Job summary

Beech Acres in Cincinnati, OH is seeking a Risk Management & Quality Improvement Specialist to support risk management and quality improvement initiatives across the agency. You will collaborate with leadership to drive data-informed decisions and manage enterprise risk, with cross-cover for compliance and HIPAA activities as needed.

The role oversees incident reporting, policy lifecycle management, and risk assessments while supporting audit and accreditation efforts.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in a social science, law, healthcare or business major required, or this requirement can be waived with 3 – 5 years of quality improvement/compliance experience, or a certificate held as a CPHQ or similar.
• This position requires project management skills, including the ability to plan, execute, and oversee projects from inception to completion.
• Knowledge and practical use of Quality Improvement tools and methods such as Model for Improvement through the IHI, or Lean techniques.
• Knowledge of HIPAA compliance (Privacy, Security, and Omnibus rules) and Protected Health Information (PHI) required.
• Experience with responding to records requests and knowledge of appropriate uses and disclosures under HIPAA is helpful.
• Experience with policy writing, review, and revision preferred.
• Knowledge of the behavioral health and child welfare systems of Ohio is a plus.
• Must be able to work in a team atmosphere, lead and influence groups, and create structure during times of ambiguity.
• Attention to detail, time management, prioritization of tasks, and ability to multi-task across multiple priorities while meeting deliverable deadlines is a must.
• Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook as well as Adobe Pro would be greatly beneficial to this position.
• Experience supporting compliance activities within a healthcare, non-profit, social services, or similar environment is preferred.
• Experience with NextGen, Binti, REDCap, HIE, and Healthy Planet is a bonus.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, ability to use creativity and innovation in addressing challenges/barriers.

• Contribute to COA accreditation and ongoing compliance maintenance
• Analyze data to identify risks, trends, and improvement opportunities; Support organizational training and education related to QI, safety, and risk
• Maintain working knowledge of compliance and HIPAA functions
• Medical records and audit preparation

The Risk Management & Quality Improvement Specialist serves as the primary support for risk management and quality improvement functions across the agency. In collaboration with the Director of Risk Management and Quality Improvement, this role drives data-informed decision-making, facilitates enterprise risk management processes, and oversees continuous quality improvement initiatives. This position operates within a shared team model partnering closely with the Compliance & HIPAA Specialist to ensure seamless operations. While supporting QI and Risk functions, this role maintains the ability to cross-cover compliance and HIPAA related activities to support continuity and organizational needs.

• This position requires project management skills, including the ability to plan, execute, and oversee projects from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will possess a strong ability to manage resources, timelines, and deliverables, ensuring that all project goals and objectives are met efficiently and effectively.
• This position requires knowledge and practical use of Quality Improvement tools and methods such as Model for Improvement through the IHI, or Lean techniques. This involves the application of QI tools (KDD, fishbone, PDSA, etc.), an ability to facilitate groups, analyze data, create pilot tests and spread change.
• Knowledge of HIPAA compliance (Privacy, Security, and Omnibus rules) and Protected Health Information (PHI) required.
• Experience with responding to records requests and knowledge of appropriate uses and disclosures under HIPAA is helpful.
