Scripps Health is seeking a Risk Management/Quality Coordinator RN for a full-time role at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, San Diego. The incumbent will manage quality measures, perform medical records reviews, and support risk management initiatives across the service line.

The position emphasizes collaboration with clinical leadership, staff, and physicians to improve patient care, pilot peer reviews, and provide decision support for medical staff reevaluation.

Responsibilities

• Performs concurrent review of medical records for core measures and other clinical indicators based on established definitions and provides real time feedback and intervention with clinical staff and physicians to ensure optimal quality patient care.
• Abstracts records based on established indicators of the medical staff for peer review for assigned populations; facilitates the peer review process, ongoing physician performance review and decision support for medical staff reappointment.
• In the absence of the Director, Medical/Legal Affairs, oversees office and provides independent judgment and support to patients, physicians, Scripps Clinic employees, and attorneys.
• Provides comprehensive administrative support in risk management issues to the Director, Medical/Legal Affairs.
• Assumes the Patient Advocate role helping patients whose problems need to be resolved immediately in the absence of the Patient Advocate.

Job description

This is a full-time benefited position working 8-hour shifts Monday-Friday. Hours are typically 8am to 5pm.

Position does not require weekends or holidays. Located at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla.

The Risk Management/Quality Coordinator RN manages publicly reported and other significant quality measures and performance improvement in collaboration with administrative, clinical and physician leadership for their assigned service line. In addition, you will be responsible for:

• Performs concurrent review of medical records for core measures and other clinical indicators based on established definitions and provides real time feedback and intervention with clinical staff and physicians to ensure optimal quality patient care.

• Additionally, this RN position abstracts records based on established indicators of the medical staff for peer review for assigned populations; facilitates the peer review process, ongoing physician performance review and decision support for medical staff reappointment.

• In the absence of the Director, Medical/Legal Affairs, oversees office and provides independent judgment and support to patients, physicians, Scripps Clinic employees, and attorneys.

• Provides comprehensive administrative support in risk management issues to the Director, Medical/Legal Affairs.
