Job summary

State of South Carolina seeks a Compliance Audit Supervisor to lead a statewide audit team within the Office of the Inspector General at the SCDMV Headquarters in Blythewood. You will oversee driver training and third-party testing audits, ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and program standards.

You will develop policies and audit tools, provide coaching to auditors, and prepare periodic reports for leadership. Occasional overnight travel and after-hours work are expected as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree may substitute for required experience.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Demonstrated leadership, supervision, and strong communication skills.

This position is located in the Office of the Inspector General, Class D Compliance Unit, at SCDMV Headquarters in Blythewood, SC.

Responsibilities of the Compliance Audit Supervisor

• Supervises and coordinates the daily activities of a compliance audit team, including workload management, performance monitoring, and staff development. Oversees compliance audits of driver training schools, third-party testers, and other entities to ensure adherence to laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and program standards. Reviews audit reports and audit findings to ensure accuracy and completeness and approves audit recommendations.
• Serves as the agency's subject matter expert for non-commercial driver training schools and third-party testers providing technical guidance, clarification of standards, and interpretation of regulatory requirements. Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to support compliance initiatives and resolve complex issues.
• Develops, updates, and maintains policies, procedures, and audit tools for the unit that support consistent and effective oversight.
• Provides training, coaching, and mentorship to auditors to strengthen skills and ensure high-quality service delivery.
• Prepares and maintains reports and statistics. Make recommendations to leadership based on audit findings and industry trends.
• Monitors changes in state and federal laws and regulations and ensures timely updates to compliance practices and program guidance. Supports strategic planning and continuous improvement activities to enhance the effectiveness of driver training and testing oversight.
• Coordinates and participates in investigations of non-compliance, complaints, or program irregularities.
• Performs other related duties as directed by management.

Minimum Requirements

• A high school diploma and relevant work experience. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required work experience.
• Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record.

Agency Requirements

• Must complete a nationwide criminal background check to include finger printing.

Additional requirements

• Considerable knowledge of laws, regulations, principles, and practices related to driver training and testing.
• Must have strong leadership, supervision, communication, problem solving, and decision-makingskills.
• Must have excellent time management and organizational skills, as well as collaboration and relationship management skills.
• Coordinates with, and receives guidance from the unit manager, but generally works independently and has some latitude for independent decision making.
• The assigned work location is Blythewood, but will supervise a team throughout the state.
• This position is subject to overnight travel.
• Normal hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM but will require working outside the normal work hours and on weekends occasionally.

• Prefer someone with management and auditing experience.
