Job Overview

Zurich’s Middle Markets Risk Engineering team is seeking a Risk Engineering Consultant with Property and Casualty Risk Engineering experience to support the Middle Market Underwriting Business Unit. This role reports to the Regional Risk Engineering Manager and can be based remotely in GA, NC, or SC, with required travel within the territory.

Responsibilities

1. Perform field engineering risk assessments and risk improvement services for prospect and bound accounts, primarily regionally with travel as needed.
2. Support underwriting teams and participate in client/broker meetings.
3. Manage account risk portfolios and provide engineering insights to meet underwriting standards.
4. Deliver advanced property and casualty consulting, identify exposures, investigate major losses, and review risk management effectiveness.
5. Develop customer service strategies to reduce losses and enhance operations.
6. Ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of engineering services.
7. Assist in marketing Zurich’s risk solutions and insurance products alongside underwriting and agents.

Additional Information

Final candidates will undergo a Motor Vehicle Record check due to the company car policy, with eligibility based on position demands and geography.

The role can be filled at the Risk Engineering Consultant or Senior Risk Engineering Consultant level, with the appropriate level determined by experience and skills.

Minimum Qualifications

Risk Engineering Consultant:

• Bachelor’s Degree with 3+ years in Risk Engineering OR
• High School Diploma or Equivalent with 5+ years in Risk Engineering OR
• Zurich Certified Apprentice with an Associates degree and 3+ years in Risk Engineering, plus team experience.

Senior Risk Engineering Consultant:

• Bachelor’s Degree with 6+ years in Risk Engineering OR
• High School Diploma or Equivalent with 8+ years in Risk Engineering OR
• Zurich Certified Apprentice with an Associates degree and 6+ years in Risk Engineering.

Preferred Qualifications

• Intermediate knowledge of exposures and controls.

Compensation and Benefits

The total salary range is $74,300 - $161,000, with specific levels from $74,300 - $121,700 (Mid-Senior) and $98,300 - $161,000 (Senior). Incentives and benefits are included, with details available upon request.
