Elevance Health invites a Risk, Controls, and Assurance Intern to join in Indianapolis, IN for Summer 2027. This full-time, 7-month internship will support internal controls over financial reporting and audit/regulatory compliance, including GAAP, SOX, MAR, and SOC1.

You will document control testing, research, risk assessment, and collaborate with audit teams. The role follows a hybrid work model (1–2 days in office, rest remote) and offers exposure to real-world controls work across locations

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Accounting, Finance, MIS, or related field.
• Ability to work 40 hours per week for the duration and in-office at least once per week.

• Assess risk of financial processes, operational processes, and the supporting IT systems.
• Document business processes dependent on financial data systems.

Position Title

Risk, Controls, and Assurance Intern – Summer 2027

Location

Indianapolis, IN; Mason, OH; Tampa, FL

Employment Type / Duration

This position is a full-time (40 hours per week) internship program and is slated to run for 7 months from May-December 2027.

Work Arrangement

This role requires associates to be in-office 1 - 2 days per week, fostering collaboration and connectivity, while providing flexibility to support productivity and work-life balance. This approach combines structured office engagement with the autonomy of virtual work, promoting a dynamic and adaptable workplace. Alternate locations may be considered if candidates reside within a commuting distance from an office. Job Description

The Risk, Controls, and Assurance Intern is responsible for supporting our Risk, Controls, and Assurance team in ensuring the stability and compliance of internal controls over financial reporting and audit/regulatory compliance obligations. Key regulations and standards supported by these efforts include Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), statutory Model Audit Rule (MAR), and System and Organization Controls 1 (SOC1) reporting.

Minimum Qualifications

Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Accounting, Finance, Business Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or a related program (MSA, MBA, MSIS, etc). The ability to work 40 hours per week for the duration of the internship and work in-office at least once per week.
