  • Making sure the team follows policy and stays sharp on best practices
Doing the technical work
  • Scheduling and conducting on-site risk control surveys of Member facilities, writing evaluations, and following up
  • Digging into claims history and research to figure out what's really driving losses, then delivering practical recommendations
  • Building and running risk control training programs that Members find useful
  • Partnering closely with Underwriting and Claims to solve problems before they become expensive ones
Overseeing the department
  • Setting departmental goals, policies, and procedures, and tracking whether they're working
  • Managing budgets, schedules, and long-range planning
  • Reporting to the Board, presenting updates, and reviewing risk-related articles before they go out
  • Representing CSDSIP at conferences and industry events
Being on the road
  • Expect regular in-state travel to Member districts and regional trainings and workshops (up to 30 overnights a year), plus occasional evenings or weekends for meetings or conferences
REQUIREMENTS
  • A bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Business Administration, or something related (advanced degree is a plus)

  • At least 2 yearsin a supervisory or management role
  • Comfort with underwriting practices and reinsurance compliance
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record
  • Willingness to become a Certified Playground Inspectorwithin your first year (we'll support you in getting there)
