Job description

We are currently seeking a risk control professional that is technically proficient, self-motivated, and results-driven to join our East Region Shared Services division. The position primarily provides safety and risk-management services to customers throughout Pennsylvania. The successful candidate will partner with Underwriting teams to provide analytical risk assessments supporting profitable growth, develop relationships with agents and policyholders, and offer value-added service.

The role is suitable for a consultant passionate about safety and risk management, capable of working remotely, and possessing excellent organizational skills to manage their territory effectively. The position may be filled as a Risk Control Consultant I, II, or Senior based on qualifications and experience.

What You’ll Do
  • Conduct onsite evaluations to assess operational exposures and determine the scope of preventative maintenance for mechanical systems.
  • Assess facility protections like fire suppression and alarm systems for adequacy based on building occupancy and hazards.
  • Complete detailed reports to aid underwriting decisions across various lines of insurance.
  • Assist clients in developing and implementing safety policies and procedures.
  • Provide advanced risk management consulting to assigned clients.
  • Conduct safety inspections and OSHA 10-hour seminars, especially for construction clients.
  • Maintain expertise in safety management areas such as property protection, liability, fleet, and employee safety.
  • Develop safety seminars and training programs to promote safety awareness and reduce claims.
  • Create service proposals and plans tailored to qualified accounts.
What it Takes
  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety or equivalent work experience; emphasis in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, or Physical Sciences preferred.
  • 1-5 years of safety consulting or safety work in industries like construction or manufacturing.
  • Ability to work independently from home with strong organizational skills.
  • Experience in managing large or multi-location accounts is preferred.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, NFPA standards, and DOT regulations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to learn specialized software for building valuation, diagramming, and reporting.
  • Valid driver’s license for travel (including overnight travel, approximately 50%).
  • Interest in pursuing professional safety designations such as CSP.
