Job summary

Snohomish County Health Department is seeking a Risk Communications Specialist to strengthen emergency communications through message development, partner coordination, and integration into preparedness planning, training, and response operations. This Bargaining Unit represented position requires a start in early January 2027 and offers hybrid telework options based on performance and business needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Emergency Management or closely related field.
• Two (2) years of Public Health, Emergency Management or closely related field, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and respond to public health emergencies as a member of the PHEPR Program.
• Support emergency responses in assigned ICs roles and tasks.
• Contribute to IPP, AARs/IPs, risk/capability assessments, readiness assessments, and corrective-action tracking.
• Embed equity, access, and inclusion into all work—from planning to response operations.
• Coordinate with regional partners to share resources and best practices.
• Maintain public-facing preparedness information and ensure accuracy.
