Job summary

First American is seeking a risk and process improvement professional to lead risk assessments and document detailed workflows across mortgage servicing processes. You will collaborate with stakeholders to identify gaps, develop risk scopes, and present practical remediation recommendations.

The role emphasizes strong communication, analytical rigor, and cross-team coordination. The candidate should bring a business/finance background and 4–7 years in financial services, preferably mortgage

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Accounting or Finance.
  • 4-7 years of experience in the Financial Services Industry, preferably in a Mortgage Loan Servicing environment.
  • Mortgage servicing or mortgage lending experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of operational and regulatory risk controls, concepts, and practices.
  • Ability to plan, organize and effectively execute risk mitigation and process improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within and between departments.
  • Strong client service skills.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated; self-starter.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes, defines and documents detailed process workflows through user interviews, facilitated workshops and subject matter expert engagement.
  • Design and execute risk assessments.
  • Creates a clear understanding of the core accountabilities within the process.
  • Organizes the research for and development of specialized risk assessment scopes.
  • Collaborates with management and personnel to optimize risk assessment and scope development.
  • Identifies potential business risks, operational and regulatory process deficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
  • Gathers and synthesizes data; presents conclusions and offers risk mitigation, remediation, and process improvement solutions to management.
  • Makes recommendations for additional controls and corrective action to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operations and risk mitigation processes.
  • Assists in preparing and presenting to management and/or affected business unit(s) on summaries, operational and regulatory risk assessment reports, trends, and remedial or mitigation solutions.
  • Gathers information and provides fact-based findings and recommendations. Escalates issues identified during review and analysis to stakeholders.
  • Establishes a network of subject matter experts that provide the detail and context for existing processes, and/or stakeholders that may influence others to help support or drive improvements and to mitigate risks.

What We Do

Reviews, analyzes, and reports on risk, quality, service, and controls to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness, mitigate risk and remediate operational and regulatory vulnerabilities. Conducts risk assessments to ensure compliance with federal and state regulatory requirements, industry standards, and operating procedures. Develops standard risk assessment scopes and conducts re-scoping of established reviews to ensure validity. Performs analyses to determine the root cause of process gaps. Monitors corrective action target dates to ensure prompt remediation and control implementation to comply with regulatory requirements.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Candidates selected for employment will be required to successfully complete a background check and credit check as a condition of employment, where permitted by applicable law.

Pay Range: $64,300.00 - $85,700.00 AnnuallyThis hiring range is a reasonable estimate of the base pay range for this position at the time of posting. Pay is based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements and geographic location.
