Job summary

Credit One Bank in Las Vegas seeks a Risk Analyst to join the Portfolio Management and Financial Support team. You will forecast portfolio performance, monitor trends, and identify risks and opportunities impacting profitability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Decision Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics or related field
  • 4-5 years of relevant experience in financial services, finance, or business development
  • Knowledge of financial analysis and profitability drivers
  • Experience in data mining and analysis to understand risks, concerns, and outcomes
  • Advanced use of Access, SQL Server, Oracle, VBA, Python or SAS
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer-focused, professional demeanor
  • Create reports, summaries, presentations, and process documents to display results
  • Ability to remain highly organized, flexible, and pivot direction when needed
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and follow up to ensure deadlines, outcomes and results
  • Ability to anticipate issues based on business trends and propose solutions
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain tools to forecast portfolio performance
  • Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly credit card portfolio trends to identify risks and opportunities
  • Review and analyze card-member usage and recommend strategies to reduce risk and increase profitability
  • Support evaluation of new product ideas with focus on financial impact
  • Collaborate across Risk, Marketing, Customer Service, IT, and Finance to develop portfolio trend indicators
  • Present results to senior leadership and explain all drivers of profitability
  • Serve as expert consultant to senior management on complex issues
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Position Summary

In the role of Risk Analyst, you will be part of the Portfolio Management and Financial Support team, and you will focus on portfolio forecasting and trend monitoring. This role is responsible for ensuring financial success while applying risk and control standards. This position is a part of the Risk Management department but supports the entire bank.

Summary Essential Job Functions
  • Develop and maintain tools to forecast portfolio performance.
  • Monitor the daily, weekly, and monthly trends of the credit card portfolio in order to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Review and analyze card-member usage and recommend strategies to reduce risk and increase profitability.
  • Support the evaluation of new product ideas with emphasis on financial impact and profitability.
  • Collaborate cross functionally across Risk, Marketing, Customer Service, IT, and Finance to develop accurate portfolio trend indicators.
  • Present results to senior leadership and be a subject matter expert on all drivers of profitability, being able to explain all parts of your work to leadership.
  • Serve as an expert consultant to senior management on highly complex issues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Decision Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics or related field
  • 4-5 years of relevant experience in financial services, finance, or business development
  • Knowledge of financial analysis and profitability drivers
  • Experience in data mining and analysis to better understand potential risks, concerns, and outcomes of decisions
  • Demonstrated advanced use of at least one of the following: Microsoft Access, SQL Server, Oracle, VBA, Python or SAS
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer focused, professional demeanor
  • Create reports, summaries, presentations, and process documents to display results
  • An ability to remain highly organized, well-rounded, flexible, and able to pivot direction when needed
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and follow up to ensure achievement of deadlines, outcomes and results
  • Ability to anticipates issues based on knowledge of business trends and propose solutions
  • Ability to work independently and self-motivate in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment
Preferred
  • MBA, Master's degree or Advanced quantitative degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years work experience in consumer credit card industry preferred
  • Minimum of 4-5 years work experience in risk management or equivalent industry experience preferred
  • Advanced Excel and VBA skills preferred
  • Advanced software competencies using SQL preferred
