  • Headquartered in Houston, the company has a total crude refining capacity of approximately 807,000 barrels per day and employs around 3,300 people.
  • Our client has a long-standing reputation as a top-branded fuel supplier, operating under values of Safety, Integrity, Respect, Accountability, and Care.
  • The company is implementing new technology platforms, such as Right Angle (ETRM software), to improve data-driven decision-making and financial analytics across the business

Role Summary:

  • Title: Risk Pricing Analyst (level may vary: Associate, Analyst, or Senior Analyst)
  • Reports to: Risk & Pricing Team Leadership
  • Split Role: ~50% quantitative pricing configuration, ~50% daily analytical/risk support

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain forward and market curves for both physical and derivative energy products in the company trading portfolio
  • Configure Exchange Traded Instruments (ETIs) and complex derivatives (e.g., float-float swaps, options) within the ETRM system (e.g., Right Angle)
  • Ensure curve structures allow for proper decomposition of risk exposures; maintain related components such as pricing locations, calendars, and delivery categories
  • Publish daily mark-to-market P&L and risk exposure reports for internal stakeholders
  • Monitor risk positions against internal thresholds and provide commentary on pricing and portfolio movement
  • Investigate pricing discrepancies, troubleshoot valuation issues, and support trade reconciliations
  • Serve as backup for mark-to-market analysts, contributing to continuity and cross-functional knowledge sharing
  • Partner with front-, mid-, and back-office teams (including traders, schedulers, and accounting) to support accurate and timely risk reporting
  • Support ad hoc pricing research and internal initiatives focused on improving reporting and controls

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Mathematics, Finance, or Economics (Master’s or MBA preferred)
  • 2+ years of commodity risk experience in a trading, banking, or hedge fund environment — or a Master’s degree in a relevant field in lieu of experience
  • Familiarity with energy commodities pricing, risk controls, and market data sources (e.g., curve builds, price feeds)
  • Proficiency in ETRM platforms (Right Angle preferred) and exposure to analytics tools such as Power BI or Alteryx
  • Experience configuring complex derivative instruments, price formulas, and market curves
  • Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional teamwork skills
  • Background in a quantitative or technical discipline with the ability to explain financial/market concepts clearly
  • Level-dependent compensation (Associate to Senior Analyst range)
  • Full benefits package including:
  • 401(k) match: $2 for every $1 up to 3% + an additional 3% automatic contribution
  • Pension plan, paid vacation, sick leave, and annual vacation incentive (40–120 hours extra pay)
  • 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off and one work-from-home day weekly
  • On-site perks: gym, free covered parking, cafeteria, health clinic, and credit union (location-specific)
  • Tuition assistance, dependent scholarships, employee discounts, and wellness programs

Selling Points

  • Blend of technical pricing configuration and market-facing analysis in a dynamic energy trading environment
  • Opportunity to work at a highly respected employer with strong internal advancement potential — many employees build long-term careers
  • Exposure to complex derivatives, ETRM systems, and front-office risk analytics
  • Exceptional benefits and work-life balance, with remote flexibility, a 9/80 schedule, and a collaborative office culture
  • Perfect for candidates interested in commodities trading, market risk, or price modeling roles at a major energy company
