Marsh Re in the United States is seeking a motivated Risk Analyst to join the broking team. This entry-level role offers exposure to the reinsurance market, client communications, data analysis and the opportunity to learn the broking process end-to-end in a supportive, collaborative environment.
We expect a current Bachelor's student with strong analytical and Excel skills, capable of balancing coursework with a growing professional workload.
We are seeking a talented individual to join our Broking team at Marsh Re. This role will be based in Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, Tampa, Philadelphia, Seattle and New York. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
A dynamic and renowned innovator in the reinsurance broking space, Marsh Re helps insurance companies find new ways to manage their risk. As a reinsurance intermediary, Marsh Re's colleagues are offered a unique opportunity to pursue a career that marries investment banking and consulting. Similar to an investment bank, we broker a specific type of financial transaction called reinsurance. Comparable to a consulting firm, we leverage our reinsurance expertise to help our clients anticipate and navigate change, providing them with a business edge that goes beyond the insurance transaction. Our full company platform includes broking expertise, strategic advisory services, and best-in-class analytics, giving insurers the confidence they need to grow and protect their business. We thrive on working together, harnessing our collective intelligence across teams, borders, and backgrounds. We are looking for an individual who is proactive, innovative, a self-starter and enjoys building relationships with clients, reinsurers and colleagues.
Reinsurance is a risk transfer agreement that is often referred to as "insurance for insurance companies". Insurance companies purchase reinsurance from other carriers to protect against the risk of a major claims event. Marsh Re supports insurance companies as they navigate the market to find the best reinsurance solutions for their needs. Given the important role we play in global risk mitigation, we enable insurance companies the opportunity to protect individuals against unforeseen loss.
The Risk Analyst role is entry level to the reinsurance Broker career track. Our Brokers are client advocates in the reinsurance transaction negotiations but also leaders in advising the right risk mitigation techniques; their financial broking expertise helps drive favorable terms for our clients, and their important advisory role impacts how the c-suite of insurance companies make decisions.
At Marsh Re, you can be your best. We work on challenges that matter with colleagues who help bring out our best. Our uniquely collaborative environment will empower you to focus on your personal and professional success, learning from top specialists in the (re)insurance industry and leading you towards a rewarding and impactful career.
Maintain comprehensive knowledge of reinsurer capabilities (product lines, capacity, approvals, etc) with the help of Market Information Department and Market Reference Guide. Analyze client risk and develop and present recommendations. Develop broking and functional skills.
Understand all best practice procedures and compliance policies. When new procedures are provided, understand and adopt new procedures as rolled out, take required training and speak up with any question or concerns uncovered in your role at Marsh Re. Follow all best practice procedures and compliance requirements, including but not limited to building a complete placement file as the placement progresses to minimize errors & omissions.
Assist brokers in designing new programs for clients' unmet needs. Respond to client requests for information (reinsurer, financial reports, industry issues, etc), as directed by senior broker, coordinating with Market Information and other departments as necessary, and clearing with senior broker.
We help you be your best through professional development opportunities, interesting work and supportive leaders. We foster a vibrant and inclusive culture where you can work with talented colleagues to create new solutions and have impact for colleagues, clients and communities. Our scale enables us to provide a range of career opportunities, as well as benefits and rewards to enhance your well-being.
The applicable salary for this role is between $70,000 - $82,000 depending on location.
