Job description

Position: Risk Management Analyst - Ability to Travel to ME, NY or NJ offices as necessary. Otherwise a remote role, must reside in either: Maine, New York or New Jersey

The Risk Management Analyst will play an important role in managing and overseeing the contractual agreements between our agency and our clients, partners, and vendors. The ideal candidate will contribute to our mission of providing outstanding service and support. Must have prior work experience (5+ years or more) with risk management, insurance claims, insurance litigation, or contract review & analysis management.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Review and Interpret Contracts: Analyze contracts to identify insurance requirements (e.g., general liability, professional liability, auto, property, workers’ comp). Assess contractual risk transfer, indemnity, hold harmless, and waiver clauses for risk exposure.
  • Identify and Communicate Insurance Needs: Ability to clearly comprehend what is being asked of our client and translate contractual insurance obligations into actionable coverage requirements for clients. Recommend policy adjustments or endorsements to ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate with Insurance Brokers and Clients: Work directly with Agency insurance agents/brokers and clients to verify existing coverage meets contract terms. Coordinate the issuance of certificates of insurance (COIs) and endorsements.
  • Track and Manage Compliance: Maintain a system for tracking insurance requirements across multiple contracts. Ensure timely updates and renewals of coverage documentation.
  • Support Claims and Risk Management: Flag high-risk language and consult with management when needed. Contribute to contract negotiation support by recommending revised insurance and indemnity language.
REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Contractual Analysis and Interpretation: Ability to accurately interpret and identify indemnification, hold harmless, waiver of subrogation, limitation of liability and other insurance-related clauses
  • Knowledge of Commercial Insurance Policies: Familiarity with commercial insurance coverage types, limits, exclusions, and industry-specific standards (e.g., ISO forms). Ability to evaluate whether contractual insurance requirements align with actual coverage provided
  • Preferred Designations: CRM - Certified Risk Manager, ARM - Associate in Risk Management
  • Risk Transfer Evaluation: Skilled in assessing the allocation of risk between parties. Skilled in identifying gaps where risk is retained vs. transferred
  • Attention to Detail: Precision in identifying inconsistencies, missing terms, or non-compliance in insurance certificates, endorsements, or contractual wording
  • Communication and Client Advising Skill: Ability to explain complex insurance obligations clearly to non-expert clients
  • Technology and Research: Proficient in contract management systems and online research to verify insurance standards
  • Organizational and Tracking Skills: Capability to manage multiple contracts and insurance compliance requirements efficiently
