Job summary

Viva Health, part of the UAB Health System, seeks a Risk Adjustment Specialist in Birmingham to ensure ICD-10 codes are documented for valid HCCs for CMS submissions. You will review records, identify missing codes from suspect reports, and perform chart audits in collaboration with other departments.

The role supports the Manager of Risk Adjustment on projects, requires 3–5 years coding experience and a AHIMA/AAPC credential, and offers comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 3–5 years' experience with coding.
• Certified Coder (AHIMA or AAPC).
• Read/interpret handwritten and typed material.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Ensure ICD-10 codes are documented for valid CMS HCCs.
• Work suspect reports to identify unreported diagnosis codes.
• Conduct chart audits on in-house records from other departments.
• Assist the Manager of Risk Adjustment with other projects as needed.
