AltaMed Health Services Corp. in Montebello, CA seeks a Risk Adjustment Coder to conduct concurrent, prospective, and retrospective reviews of ambulatory records to ensure accurate coding of diagnosis, severity, and complexity.

You will validate data quality, support audits, and align documentation with Medicare/Medicaid guidelines. The ideal candidate has 2+ years in risk adjustment coding or auditing, EHR/EMR navigation skills, and certifications such as CRC, CPC, or CCS/CCS-P.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• A minimum of 2 years of risk adjustment coding and/or auditing experience is required.
• Electronic health record (EHR)/medical records (EMR) experience with the ability to navigate a variety of EHRs/EMRs.
• Certification: CRC, CPC, or CCS/CCS-P. If without CRC, certification must be obtained within the first year of employment.
• Prior experience with Medicare Managed Care (Medicare Advantage) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct concurrent, prospective, and retrospective reviews of ambulatory medical record documentation to ensure accurate coding of diagnosis, severity of illness, and patient complexity.
• Evaluate the accuracy and consistency of coded clinical data quality results and reports in compliance with applicable regulations.
• Assist in developing, presenting, and disseminating provider communications related to clinical documentation.
• Support audits and process improvements to align documentation with coding guidelines.
