Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an entry-level Environmental, Water Resources, or Civil Engineer to join our Water Services Group. This role targets early‑career professionals eager to contribute to water and wastewater projects while learning from experienced engineers in a collaborative setting.

You will design and implement facilities and systems, gain hands-on experience across project lifecycles, and work on diverse assignments across multiple stages.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering.
• 1 year of related experience; travel may be required.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and development of water and wastewater facilities, collection systems, pipelines, and related infrastructure.
• Perform site assessments and field investigations to support project design and development.
• Assist with water quality analyses, engineering calculations, and hydraulic and hydrologic modeling.
• Adjust design parameters and develop solutions based on project requirements, site conditions, and regulatory standards.
• Prepare technical reports, calculations, specifications, and other project documentation.
• Develop drawings, maps, presentations, and other project materials using ArcGIS, HEC-RAS, SWMM, CADD, Excel.
• Collaborate with project teams and contribute to presentations for clients, industry conferences, and other stakeholders.
• Support construction management activities and participate in fieldwork, providing exposure to projects from initial planning and design through construction.
