Provides global functional oversight and day-to-day coordination of the company marine riser fleet. Maintains a reliable fleet-wide view of asset location, condition, certification, inspection, repair status, and readiness, including riser joints, pup joints, and associated components. Reviews and approves proposed repair scopes before work begins, monitors execution through completion, and coordinates with rig teams, regional operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, classification societies, and riser service-agreement providers. The role supports safe operations, regulatory and company compliance, fleet planning, repair quality, cost control, and timely availability of serviceable riser assets.
Job Description
- Track and oversee the global riser fleet status. Maintain a current, auditable view of each asset’s location, rig assignment, condition, certification status, inspection due dates, service-agreement coverage, work-order exposure, repair status, and readiness for deployment. Reconcile AIM and vendor records and drive closure of data-quality gaps.
- Govern riser inspection and repair activities. Review inspection findings, technical recommendations, quotations, repair methods, acceptance criteria, quality plans, and proposed scopes before work begins. Approve the technical scope within delegated authority and ensure required Engineering, QA/QC, class, OEM, Operations, and commercial approvals are obtained.
- Monitor repair execution and return-to-service readiness. Track shop progress, hold points, deviations, nonconformances, parts, purchase-order constraints, forecast completion dates, certification packages, and shipment readiness. Escalate schedule, quality, cost, or operational risks and verify close-out documentation before release.
- Lead routine governance meetings with companies supporting riser inspection, condition-based maintenance, repair, storage, and service agreements. Maintain clear agendas, action owners, due dates, KPI/SLA review, upcoming demand, capacity constraints, and commercial or technical issues requiring escalation.
- Coordinate fleet planning and allocation. Work with rig and regional management to maintain near- and long-term riser plans, forecast inspection and repair demand, confirm sufficient certified inventory for contractual water depth and contingency needs, and support transfer or redeployment decisions between rigs and regions.
- Ensure compliance with company standards, maintenance programs, class requirements, and approved marine riser management or CBM programs. Support audits, initial or periodic surveys, certification renewal, and controlled updates to riser management procedures and responsibilities.
- Provide technical and operational support for riser-related events, defects, handling incidents, and urgent readiness concerns. Coordinate troubleshooting and risk reviews with rig teams, Engineering, OEMs, service providers, and Operations; ensure lessons learned and fleet actions are documented and implemented.
- Support budgeting and cost control for inspection, repair, logistics, storage, and service agreements. Validate technical scope assumptions for forecasts and purchase requests, identify repair-versus-replacement considerations, and provide leadership with cost, exposure, and schedule visibility.
- Establish and report objective fleet metrics, including assets by status, overdue inspections or certifications, open repair scopes, repair cycle time, assets awaiting approval or vendor action, forecast demand, and exceptions requiring management attention.
- Conduct planned travel to offshore units, repair facilities, storage yards, vendor locations, and regional offices, approximately 30% of the time, to verify execution, resolve constraints, support audits, and align stakeholders.
Education:
- Minimum Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Relevant technical, trade, or company subsea training.
- Preferred Level: Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, marine, mechanical, subsea, or a related technical discipline.
Experience:
- Minimum Required: Minimum 10 years of offshore drilling or subsea operations experience, including at least 3 years in a senior supervisory or superintendent-level role with direct exposure to marine riser inspection, maintenance, repair, certification, running, and retrieval activities.
- Preferred Level: Global or multi-region asset-management experience; experience managing OEM/CSA/CBM programs, repair facilities, class interfaces, and fleet-wide planning.
Skills:
- Advanced working knowledge of marine riser systems, connectors, auxiliary lines, buoyancy, handling tools, inspection/NDT, repair processes, preservation, certification, and applicable company maintenance systems.
- Strong technical review, decision-making, planning, data management, written communication, meeting facilitation, vendor coordination, and escalation skills.
- Able to interpret inspection reports, repair proposals, quality documentation, and asset records.
- Proficiency with AIM/CMMS, Power BI or equivalent asset dashboards, SharePoint, and structured action tracking.
- Familiarity with marine riser management, condition-based maintenance programs, class requirements, service-level/KPI management, repair-versus-replacement analysis, and global logistics.
Additional:
- Requires regular travel and trips offshore.
- Must successfully complete and pass the company's pre-employment medical examination.
