Job summary

General Produce Distribution Company, LLC in Sacramento, CA is seeking a Ripening Technician Specialist to operate and monitor ripening rooms, regulate temperature and humidity, inspect product quality, and adjust cycles based on demand.

This full-time role (Tue–Sat, 7am start) supports inventory management, order fulfillment, and backup assistance to the order selecting department, with emphasis on safety, accuracy, and reliability in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

Qualifications

• Must have a strong sense of urgency and accuracy in daily tasks.
• Demonstrates a solid work ethic, reliability and commitment to safety.
• Experience in a warehouse or produce environment is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Schedule: Full time, Tue–Sat, 7am start.
• Operate and monitor ripening rooms with temperature and humidity controls.
• Inspect products to ensure quality and freshness meets company standards.
• Coordinate ripening cycles based on customer demand and delivery timelines.
• Assist with order picking and staging of customer orders with high quality product.
• Provide backup support to the order selecting department as needed.
• Utilize strong math skills for inventory management and order processing.

Ripening Technician Specialist Job Responsibilities

• Schedule: Full time, Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday/Friday/Saturday 5 day work week, 7am start time.
• Rippening: Operating and monitoring the ripening rooms using themperature and humidity controls.
• Quality Assurance: Inspect products to ensure all items meet company standards for quality and freshness.
• Material Management: Scheduling and adjusting ripening cycles based on customer demand and delivery timelines.
• Order Fulfillment: Pick and stage customer orders with high quality product.
• Department Support: Provide backup assistance to the order selecting department as needed.
• Inventory Skills: Apply strong mathematical skills for effective inventory management and order processing.

QualificationsRipening Technician Qualifications

• Age (Required): Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Experience (Preferred): 1 year of experience with produce, a warehouse environment, packing, order selecting, or material handling.
• Equipment Operation (Required): Ability to safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material transport equipment.
• Education (Preferred): High school diploma or equivalent.
• Urgency & Accuracy: Demonstrates a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail.
• Work Ethic and Reliability: Must demonstrate a strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to safety in all tasks.
