Job summary

The Class Produce Group in Jessup, MD, is seeking a Selector to manage bulk produce orders by following the pick sheet and preparing items for delivery. You will pull orders, inspect quality, separate by color/size, and move pallets to staging areas, with safety protocols for equipment operation.

Required: HS diploma or equivalent, 1 year warehouse experience preferred, ability to read/write English, and basic arithmetic.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; reading and writing in English; basic arithmetic.
• At least 1 year of warehouse experience; Electric Pallet Jack experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Pull (select) orders according to the pick sheet.
• Unload boxes from pallet and inspe ct produce quality.
• Separate product by color and size; remove defective items.
• Scan pallets/boxes out of inventory; move finished pallets to designated areas.
• Load orders onto customer vehicle when needed; maintain safe work area.
• Follow warehouse safety procedures and operate equipment safely.

Description

The Selector evaluates and chooses bulk produce orders according to the pick sheet in preparation for delivery to the customer.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Pull (select) orders according to the pick sheet
• Unload boxes from pallet
• Inspect produce to determine whether it meets an acceptable standard of quality
• Separate product based on color and size
• Remove defective product so that it may be properly disposed of
• Scan pallets/boxes of produce out of inventory
• Operate Electric Pallet Jack in a safe manner
• Stack cases of produce neatly and evenly on a pallet to ensure safe transport
• Have the order approved and checked by a Checker
• Move finished pallets to designated area(s
• Load orders onto customer vehicle or transport truck(s) from the dock, when needed
• Feed product into a machine or onto packing table
• Clean work area and keep it free of water and debris
• Follow warehouse safety procedures for the operation of equipment, such as wearing proper clothing, safe food handling, and maintaining awareness of your surroundings and the other workers
• Performs other duties as assigned

Sunday: 1:00pm-9:30 pm
Monday-Thursday 3pm-11:30 pm
Off Friday and Saturday

Requirements

• EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: High school Diploma or equivalent preferred. Must be able to read and write English. Must be able to display basic arithmetic skills.
• TRAINING, SKILLS, LICENSES: Produce experience is preferred. 1 year of experience working in a warehouse, Electric Pallet Jack experience preferred.
• WORKING CONDITIONS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and talk or hear. The employee is frequently exposed to wet, loud, cold and/or humid conditions. The employee is frequently required to walk, use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and stoop, rotate or twist, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 70 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
