Kight Home Center in Kentucky is hiring a Carter Custom Millwork Rip Saw Operator to cut lumber along the grain to spec. You will setup rip saws, read cut sheets, and help produce high-quality components for downstream processes.

This role emphasizes adherence to safety protocols, accurate measurements, and reliable teamwork in a fast-paced mill environment. Candidates should be comfortable with loud environments, be able to operate a forklift when needed, and maintain equipment servicing

Qualifications

• Experience in a manufacturing, mill or lumber environment.
• Familiarity with rip saws and safe operating procedures.
• Ability to operate a forklift.
• Manual dexterity and precision for repetitive tasks.
• Ability to read and follow cut sheets and measurements.
• Capable of working in a loud environment with hearing protection.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Gather materials as specified for each job by requirements.
• Read cut sheets to determine amount, size and grade of material.
• Set up and calibrate rip saws for accurate, consistent cuts.
• Ensure a quality product is produced and maintain inventory counts.
• Manage equipment servicing schedule and meet production goals.
• Load and unload semi flat beds daily.
• Follow safety protocols and report defects or issues promptly.
• Utilize PPE as required and coordinate with team.

Job description

A Carter Custom Millwork Rip Saw Operator is responsible for operating rip saw machinery to cut lumber along the grain to precise specifications, ensuring high-quality components are produced for further processing. Projects involve standard setups and routine production tasks. A strong belief in the mission and goals of the company are necessary to this position.

Requirements

• Familiarity with rip saws and knowledge of safe operating procedures
• Previous experience in a manufacturing, mill, or lumber environment is preferred
• Ability to operate a forklift
• Manual dexterity and ability to perform repetitive tasks with precision
• Ability to interpret and follow written and verbal instructions
• Proficiency in standard measurements (inches, fractions, decimals, etc.)
• Capacity to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Willingness to work in loud environment (hearing safety equipment is provided)
• Strong team collaboration skills

Responsibilities

• Sawing:
  • Responsible for gathering materials needed to perform job according to requirements.
  • Reads cut sheets to determine the amount, size and grade of material that needs cut.
  • Set up and calibrate rip saw machines to ensure accurate, consistent cuts
  • Ensures a quality product is produced.
  • Maintains inventory by providing an accurate count of products.
  • Manages an equipment servicing schedule.
  • Meets daily, weekly and team related production goals.
  • Responsible for loading and unloading semi flat beds on a daily basis.
• Safety
  • Follow all safety protocols when operating rip saws and handling materials
  • Acknowledges and reports any defects or safety issues to supervisor immediately.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns promptly
