The Opportunity

Chelsea Piers Athletic Club in Stamford, CT is seeking a dynamic, hands-on Full-Time Rinks Operations Manager to oversee our two NHL-sized ice rinks and lead a dedicated Ice Rink Maintenance Team. Our rinks serve in-house programming and external partners, including the Connecticut Junior Rangers, Mid-Fairfield Youth Hockey, and the Skyliners Synchronized Skating Team. This role offers growth and development within Chelsea Piers leadership.

This position is ideal for an operations-minded professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has strong leadership skills, and is passionate about guest experiences. Candidates should have a background in operations or facilities management, customer service skills, and a hands-on approach.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Lead daily operations of the ice rinks and facility staff, ensuring safety, cleanliness, and a welcoming environment.
2. Support the Ice Rink Maintenance Team to maintain high standards.
3. Conduct bi-annual performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback to support team growth.
4. Maintain a visible presence with at least four walk-throughs per shift to monitor operations.
5. Operate and maintain ice resurfacing equipment, including the Zamboni, with training provided.
6. Oversee mechanical systems such as chiller plants, compressors, filters, and strainers.
7. Manage logbooks for equipment and maintenance activities.
8. Serve as a point of contact for members, guests, and external clients, resolving inquiries professionally.
9. Manage real-time issues and crises effectively.
10. Assist with event setup and operations, including hockey games and programs.
11. Coordinate with other departments to support events and maintain facility standards.
12. Ensure cleanliness and safety in all areas.
13. Engage contractors and manage emergency repairs.
14. Provide shift reports to leadership on operational issues.

Schedule and Compensation

Full-Time, approximately 40 hours/week; Sunday-Thursday, hours vary. Salary: $60,000-$70,000/year depending on experience.

Qualifications

1. At least 1 year of ice rink or facility maintenance experience preferred.
2. Mechanical aptitude.
3. Valid driver’s license.
4. Strong leadership and communication skills.
5. Organized with attention to detail.
6. Respectful leadership style.
7. Proficient in Microsoft Office.
8. CPR/AED and First Aid certification or willingness to train.
9. Flexible availability, including nights and weekends.
