Job summary

Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services is seeking a qualified professional to manage the acquisition and disposition of property rights of way for road construction projects. The role focuses on directing staff, coordinating county-wide real estate activities, and ensuring timely acquisition in line with project schedules.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and five years of progressively responsible experience in rights of way acquisition and engineering plan review,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Law, Real Estate, or related field required; supplemented by five years of progressively responsible experience in rights of way acquisition and engineering plan review; or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Manages, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, handling employee concerns and performance appraisals.
• Organizes and schedules work activities to meet objectives and ensure adequate coverage.
• Coordinates County-wide real estate acquisition for transportation projects including records and disclosures.
• Interprets rights of way by researching plats, easements, deeds, and titles.
• Processes rights of way abandonments, exchanges, and disposal of surplus property.
• Manages purchase and disposal of rights of way including closings and communications with attorneys and owners.
• Coordinates condemnation filings and attends related meetings and hearings.
• Responds to questions from property owners and public hearings with explanations of the acquisition process.
