A Day in The Life of a Right-of-Way Technician
The right-of-way technician is very data-driven and likes to get "in the weeds" when it comes to land ownership and property lines. You examine documents and tax records and use legal descriptions to identify land boundaries and resolve disputes with members. You also assist other departments with easement issues on service orders and work plan projects. You are familiar with easements and can direct member service coordinators and field design technicians in when and how to obtain them. You are a one-stop-shop in the field, and are comfortable speaking with members about easements and notarizing easement documents while you are with them.
Who You Are
You're the type of person who loves to research, and you are not afraid to dig when the answer doesn't come easily. You can also explain concepts to people to help them understand, and you are able to work well with other departments to coordinate work and document execution. You are a notary, or you are able to obtain a notary appointment within 90 calendar days of hire. Your Michigan driver's license is valid and your driving record is satisfactory.
