Job summary

ACCGov is seeking a qualified Grounds Supervisor to oversee landscape development and maintenance at Athens-Clarke County Government facilities. You will supervise staff, coordinate tasks, and ensure safety and compliance with procedures for inmate workers and field crews.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED with related landscape experience, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to obtain a Georgia CDL within six months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with two years landscape maintenance or construction experience.
• Valid driver’s license; ability to obtain Georgia CDL within six months.
• Criminal background must indicate eligibility for supervision of inmates.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Landscape Grounds Workers, community service workers, volunteers, students, and inmates.
• Train and evaluate staff; direct work assignments; handle employee concerns; conduct evaluations.
• Prepare daily work reports, equipment service requests, and pesticide application reports.
• Operate and maintain heavy and landscape equipment; install trees, shrubs and plantings.
• Manage fertilizer and pesticide programs; monitor inventories and maintenance schedules.
• Ensure safety, security, and compliance with Department of Corrections procedures.
