Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a Right of Way Agent I in Denver to perform land rights services for transportation, power and water projects. You will work with multidiscipled teams including engineering, surveying, and environmental staff on multiple projects.

Requirements include 1+ year real estate experience or 120 hours of training, MS Office proficiency, and strong communication, negotiation and client coordination skills. Travel to Colorado sites is expected.

Qualifications

  • Ability to understand and work in compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations specific to the real estate and right-of-way industry, such as the Uniform Act, FERC and NEPA
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite
  • Strong communication skills, basic understanding of negotiation and presentation skills, and ability to work flexible hours and effectively with people of all types
  • Ability to work confidently with clients, property owners and occupants
  • Effectively balance office and field work in a collaborative and deadline-sensitive manner
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Availability to work flexible hours and coordinate closely with management

Real Estate Services Agent I
Primary Responsibilities

HDR Engineering, Inc. has an opportunity for a Right of Way Agent 1 based out of our Denver office. The candidate will perform land rights services for moderate to highly complex projects with limited supervision and will have the opportunity to work on transportation, power, and water projects as part of HDR's cross sector services. This position will involve working as a part of multidisciplined teams including engineering, surveying, environmental and strategic communications and will require working on several projects concurrently.

Responsibilities include:
  • Property ownership and valuation research
  • Real estate document preparation
  • Preparing real estate documents such as easements, offer letters and MOA's
  • Title and appraisal reviews
  • Negotiating to acquire land rights for transportation and utility projects
  • Meeting with property owners, public agencies and clients to discuss issues related to developing and constructing transportation and utility projects.
  • Work independently or closely with a team, confidently with clients and property owners.
  • Field meetings and visits to active construction sites
  • Quality assurance reviews of project deliverables
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Ability to productively collaborate and communicate with team members
  • Ability to interpret land descriptions and survey and engineering drawings
  • Basic understanding of real estate appraisal fundamentals
  • Ability to effectively manage schedule and tasks
  • Ability to adhere to QA/QC procedures
  • Proficiency with standard technology tools such as Microsoft Office and Google Earth
  • Available for travel anywhere in Colorado (limited out of state may be required)
  • Experience acquiring property rights for Transportation and/or Power projects
  • Proficiency adhering to the Uniform Acquisition and Relocation Act
  • Certification from the International Right of Way Association
  • Permitting experience within Colorado
Preferred Qualifications
  • Real estate license in good standing, or equivalent, as required by law
  • Database and GIS familiarity
