Job summary

BAE Systems, Inc. in Norfolk, VA seeks a Rigging Supervisor to oversee daily shop operations, assign and monitor tasks, and provide technical guidance to the workforce within the Ship Repair division.

You will develop project schedules, allocate resources, manage budgets, and ensure compliance with labor agreements. The role requires strong communication, safety focus, and proficiency with MS Office.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the trade.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge in the relevant trade.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs and similar software.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily work in the assigned shop and ensure quality and safety.
  • Assign and monitor the completion of work; provide technical assistance to the team.
  • Develop and/or review project schedules and budgets during planning.
  • Allocate personnel and resources to efficiently support all contracts and shifts.
  • Oversee schedule performance and monitor ongoing/upcoming projects for delays.
  • Monitor project budgets and identify productivity improvements and over-budget risks.
  • Supervise employees, manage performance, and uphold labor agreements.
  • Train and motivate employees in technical, safety, and environmental areas.

Rigging Supervisor Role
  • Oversee daily work in your assigned shop.
  • Be responsible for assigning and monitoring the completion of work, as well as providing technical assistance, and generally managing the workforce within the Shop.
  • Develop and/or review project schedules and budgets during the planning phase.
  • Allocate personnel and resources to efficiently support all contracts (including shift work).
  • Oversee and monitor schedule performance, including review of ongoing and upcoming projects, investigation of late activities, project supervision, and the development of practical solutions.
  • Monitor and evaluate project budget performance, including review of ongoing and upcoming projects, development of productivity enhancements and investigation of over‑budget items.
  • Perform personnel related functions including, but not limited to, the supervision of employees, performance management, workforce reductions, promotions, demotions and discipline.
  • Ensure that employees understand and adhere to Company policies.
  • Train and motivate employees in the areas of technical knowledge, safety, environmental and communication.
  • Ensure that requirements of the labor agreement are satisfied.
  • Work a variety of shifts (1st shift 7:15 am to 4:00 pm, 2nd shift 4:00 pm to 12:30 am, 3rd shift 11:45 pm – 7:45 pm).
Required Education, Experience & Skills
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the trade.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge in the relevant trade.
  • Proficient computer skills required including experience with Microsoft Office programs and similar software.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
Physical Requirements Of This Role Include
  • Must be able to wear appropriate protective gear.
  • Must be able to physically perform essential job duties with or without accommodations.
  • Must be able to work at heights, in confined spaces and have the ability to climb staircases and ladders of varying sizes.
Skills
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, schedule, supervise, and direct the work of other employees in the relevant trade or industry.
  • Ability to use discretion and judgment in making operations and personnel decisions.
Preferred Education, Experience & Skills

Apprentice Graduate preferred.

Pay Information

Full‑Time Salary Range: $75,254 - $127,930.

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
