Job summary

Guy M. Turner, Inc. in Durham, NC is seeking an Industrial Rigging Foreman/Supervisor to lead crews in lifting and moving materials and machines using hoists, cranes, and forklifts.

This is a hands-on, top-level role with long hours and possible weekend work. The successful candidate will supervise rigging activities, ensure safety procedures and OSHA compliance, read specs and drawings, and optimize resources to complete projects on time.

Qualifications

• Must have 1-3 years of rigging or heavy lift experience.
• Must have 2-3 years Forman experience.
• Proficient with basic computer skills.
• Proficient oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in all rigging and lifting activities, to ensure safety procedures and method statements.
• Assists and determines the proper method of lifting equipment for each project.
• Conducts basic loading of heavy lift projects by rigging the customer equipment and ensuring proper use of each equipment method.
• Directs crew to move equipment to and from work areas.
• Optimizes resources (manpower, equipment, and materials) to ensure efficient and timely completion of the project.
• Ensures crews are supplied with tools, equipment, and materials; prevents misuse of equipment and materials.
• Reads, interprets, and follows procedures; reads specifications and drawings; keeps records of work.
• Specifies locations for movement of machinery using knowledge of lifting methods.
• Familiar with OSHA safety procedures and company rules.
