Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in rigging or related field, preferably in manufacturing or construction.
  • Must have a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and be mechanically inclined.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and signal workers for safe hoisting and moving of loads.
  • Test and ensure rigging safety and reliability before use.
  • Operate vehicles and equipment, including forklifts.

Job description

Rigger - Machinery Mover:
  1. Signal or verbally direct workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads, in order to ensure the safety of workers and materials.
  2. Test rigging to ensure safety and reliability.
  3. Attach loads to rigging to provide support or prepare them for moving, using hand and power tools.
  4. Select gear such as cables, pulleys, and winches, according to load weights and sizes, facilities, and work schedules.
  5. Control movement of heavy equipment through narrow openings or confined spaces, using chainfalls, gin poles, gallows frames, and other equipment.
  6. Tilt, dip, and turn suspended loads to maneuver over, under, and/or around obstacles, using multi-point suspension techniques.
  7. Align, level, and anchor machinery.
  8. Manipulate rigging lines, hoists, and pulling gear to move or support materials such as heavy equipment.
  9. Attach pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures such as beams and ceilings, using bolts and clamps.
  10. Dismantle and store rigging equipment after use.
  11. Operating Vehicles, Mechanized Devices, or Equipment - Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts and passenger vehicles.
  12. Controlling Machines and Processes - Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes (not including computers or vehicles). There may be occasional regional overnight travel.
Preferred Qualifications (Experience, Skills, and Education):
  1. Minimum three (3) years of proven experience or comparable field experience preferably within the manufacturing or construction service industries.
  2. Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
  3. Mechanically inclined and enjoys working with machines.
  4. Customer service focused.
