Job summary

Southern Industrial Constructors, Inc. seeks Rigger Helpers for a project in Creedmoor, NC. Hired candidates will be considered for Benefits/Paid Time Off after 3-months.

Assist with positioning rigging equipment, selecting cables and pulleys, and coordinating with a Rigger on overhead structures. Maintain safety, perform material handling, and keep work areas organized on site.

Qualifications

  • Skilled in both written and verbal communication.
  • Observe SIC and Customer safety and quality processes and procedures at all times.
  • Complete all Safety and general job training as required by SIC.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the positioning of chain falls, hoists, blocks, rope, jacks, chains and rigging as directed by the Rigger.
  • Select cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves, according to weight and size of load to be moved.
  • Work with attaching rigging to fixed overhead structures, such as beams, ceilings, and gin pole booms with bolts and clamps
  • Inspect work sites to determine presence of obstructions.
  • Give verbal and hand signals as assigned.
  • Plan sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other construction workers.
  • Secure material and rigging equipment for transport.
  • Perform housekeeping of areas and of packing materials.
  • Lift and carry objects of varying weights.
  • Detect, recognize and respond to dangerous conditions or situations.

Physical Demands
  • Must be able to effectively use all required PPE equipment and lift up to fifty pounds.
  • Must be able to safely access all areas of property, buildings, structures, wharves, rooftops and other elevated positions, as well as, confined spaces.
  • Strenuous physical demands are required to safely perform the essential functions associated with this position.
  • Must be able to safely operate all involved equipment and tools.
  • Must be capable of standing for long periods of time, bending consistently, working in confined spaces with limited access, on ladders, in personnel lifts, in workboats, and working in awkward body positions.
Work Environment
  • Conditions include working in office, shop, busy traffic areas, warehouses, and undeveloped properties, with frequent exposure to dirt, dust, grease, oil, vibrations, and adverse weather conditions.
