Job description

Position Description

Assists in assembling rigging to lift and move equipment or material on construction project in a safe and timely manner with the highest quality possible.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Select cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves, according to weight and size of load to be moved.
  2. Position material prior to lift and determine weight of object.
  3. Select proper rigging for the job such as cables, straps or chains and ensure they have been inspected and are in good working condition.
  4. Attach pulley and blocks to fixed overhead structures, such as beams, ceilings, and gin pole booms, with bolts and clamps.
  5. Attach load with grappling devices, such as loops, wires, ropes, and chains to crane hook.
  6. Give directions to crane operator or hoisting engineer engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety of workers and material hoisting equipment, using hand signals, loud speaker, two-way radio or telephone.
  7. Set up, brace and rig hoisting equipment using hand tools and power wrenches.
  8. Work with erection team to complete the assigned tasks.
  9. Ability to tie various knots.
  10. Assemble and disassemble cranes.
  11. Clean, maintain tools and inspect all equipment used in rigging.
  12. Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules.
  13. Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

  1. Preferred 12 to 24 months’ experience working in the construction field
  2. Must be at least 18 years of age
  3. Must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb, bend, twist, stand and reach repetitively
  4. Work in hot/cold/damp/cramped environments
  5. 40 or more hours per week with possible weekend work
  6. Background check and drug screen based on job location/requirements
  7. Must be able to work up to 200 feet
