Position Description

Assemble rigging to lift and move equipment or material on construction project in a safe and timely manner with the highest quality possible.

Job Responsibilities

  • Select cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves, according to weight and size of load to be moved.
  • Position material prior to lift and determine weight of object.
  • Select proper rigging for the job such as cables, straps or chains and ensures they have been inspected and are in good working condition.
  • Attach pulley and blocks to fixed overhead structures, such as beams, ceiling, and gin pole booms, with bolts and clamps.
  • Attach load with grappling devices, such as loops, wires, ropes, and chains to crane hook.
  • Give directions to crane operator or hoisting engineer engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety of workers and material hoisting equipment, using hand signals, loud speaker, two-way radio or telephone.
  • Set up, brace and rig hoisting equipment using hand tools and power tools.
  • Work with erection team to complete the assigned tasks.
  • Ability to tie various knots.
  • Assemble and disassemble cranes.
  • Clean, maintain tools and inspect all equipment used in Rigging.
  • Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules.
  • Ability to interpret an Engineer’s rigging plan
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in the field.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb, bend, twist, stand and reach repetitively
  • Work in hot/cold/damp/cramped environments
  • 40 or more hours per week with possible weekend work
  • Must be able to work up to 200 feet
  • Background check and drug screen based on job location/requirements
