Job summary

OPD, part of Koch Engineered Solutions, has a Rig Welder opening on the Mont Belvieu, TX jobsite. The role requires welding pipes and fittings, reading drawings, and following precise specs. You will own and operate a portable welding rig and support a safety-conscious onsite team.

Candidates should have 5+ years of welding experience, gas plant construction exposure, and leadership in safety. A strong teamwork mindset is essential for success on this active jobsite.

Qualifications

• Must pass ASME Section IX 6G pipe test (SMAW & GTAW) and AWS D1.1 plate test for structural welds (SMAW).
• Must produce welds that are 100% x-ray quality and visually acceptable per ASME B 31.3.

Responsibilities

• Own portable welding rig including PPE and jack stands.
• Read drawings, take measurements, read isometrics, and install piping efficiently.
• Weld pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment according to specifications.
• Operate tools and equipment including: angle grinders, beveling machines, cut-off grinders, hammers, torches, magnetic drills, welding machines, and a Saw-Zall.
• Possess skilled knowledge of pipe fittings, bolts, valves, etc. as required.
• Possess general knowledge of welding equipment and operations.
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision.

The jobsite located in Mont Belvieu, TX has an opening for a Rig Welder.

What You Will Do

Some core responsibilities for a rig welder include:

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

Must be able to pass code welding test: ASME Section IX 6G pipe test (SMAW & GTAW) and AWS D1.1 plate test for structural welds (SMAW).

Must demonstrate the ability to produce welds that are 100% x-ray quality and visually acceptable per the construction code i.e. ASME B 31.3.
