Job summary

Optimized Process Designs in Mont Belvieu, TX is seeking a Rig Welder to join our field team on natural gas and petrochemical projects. You will operate portable welding rigs, read drawings and isometrics, and weld pipes and fittings to specifications.

The ideal candidate has 5 years of welding experience, demonstrated safety leadership, strong teamwork, and the ability to work with minimal supervision on an active jobsite.

Qualifications

• Must pass code welding tests: ASME IX 6G SMAW/GTAW and AWS D1.1 plate.
• Welds must be 100% x-ray quality and pass visual inspection per ASME B31.3.
• 5 years' welder experience, preferably in gas plant construction.
• Proven safety leadership and ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Own portable welding rig including PPE and jack stands.
• Read drawings, take measurements, read isometrics, and install piping efficiently.
• Weld pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment to specs.
• Operate tools and equipment: grinders, torches, drills, welding machines, etc.
• Possess knowledge of pipe fittings, bolts, valves, etc.

The jobsite located in Mont Belvieu, TX has an opening for a Rig Welder.

What You Will Do

Some core responsibilities for a rig welder include:

• Must own portable welding rig including PPE and jack stands,
• Reading drawings, taking measurements, reading isometrics, and installing piping efficiently
• Welding pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment according to specifications
• Operate tools and equipment including: angle grinders, beveling machines, cut-off grinders, hammers, torches, magnetic drills, welding machines, and a Saw-Zall.
• Possess skilled knowledge of pipe fittings, bolts, valves, etc. as required.
• Possess general knowledge of welding equipment and operations.
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

Must be able to pass code welding test: ASME Section IX 6G pipe test (SMAW & GTAW) and AWS D1.1 plate test for structural welds (SMAW).

Must demonstrate the ability to produce welds that are 100% x-ray quality and visually acceptable per the construction code i.e. ASME B 31.3.
