Job summary

Strobel-Energy-Group-LLC is seeking a Rig Welder to perform welding and cutting on pipe in various positions at project sites across Montana and nearby regions. You will read prints, interpret weld symbols, and complete SMAW welds to industry ASME/AWS/API codes.

The role requires 4–5 years of experience, a fully equipped rig with insurance, and the ability to travel to multiple locations. A strong safety record and tool ownership are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4–5 years’ welding experience.
• Must be able to perform code-compliant welds (ASME, AWS or API) using SMAW.
• Must be able to read and interpret prints and plans.
• Must be able to weld in all positions.
• Provide mobile transportation with the proper tools for performing all essential functions in various locations.
• Must be able to work 20-30 feet above ground.
• Must be able to provide own general hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Observe and recognize problems during welding and adjust speed, voltage, amperage or feed accordingly.
• Read and interpret prints and plans to ensure correct welds.
• Perform code-compliant SMAW welds meeting ASME/AWS/API standards.
• Weld in all positions as required by job.
• Provide safe, mobile tooling and transportation to job sites.
• Maintain safe and clean work environment and follow safety rules.

Job description

As a Rig Welder you will be responsible for multiple types of welding and cutting on any type of pipe in various positions.

Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

• Must be able to observe and recognize problems during the welding process and adjust speed, voltage, amperage, or feed of the rod accordingly.
• Must be able to read and interpret prints and plans.
• Minimum of 4-5 years’ experience required.
• Perform code (ASME, AWS or API) compliant welds using SMAW process.
• Perform welding in all positions.
• Provide mobile transportation with the proper tools for performing all essential functions in various locations.
• Proper use of equipment such as welder torch, electrode holder, drill press, gas welding and welding electrode and etc.
• Maintain safe and clean work environment.
• Required to adhere to all safety rules and regulations.

Requirements:

• Must have reliable, fully outfitted RIG with required insurance.
• Must be able to weld qualification test coupon per job requirements.
• Ability to take detailed instruction.
• Willing to be challenged to improve welding skills to meet high quality standards.
• Must be able to read & understand weld symbols, weld procedures, mechanical and structural drawings.
• Knowledge of OSHA guidelines and safe work practices.
• Must be able to use Oxy/fuel & Plasma hand cutting torch.
• Daily housekeeping of shop and/or work area.
• Flexible working schedule to support project needs.
• Must be able to work 20-30 feet above ground.
• Must be able to provide own general hand tools.
