Job description

Position Overview

A Material Handler II operates various light industrial vehicles and/or RF devices to perform material handling assignments such as picking bulk orders, loading/unloading, and shipping/receiving of merchandise.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Operate powered light industrial trucks to move product to and from designated areas in the warehouse.
  2. Follow daily procedures and protocols as set forth in job orientations and trainings.
  3. Review orders and place them within the appropriate areas as directed by the vehicle-mounted computer manifest.
  4. Conduct preventative maintenance checks before each use and fill out the inspection card.
  5. Perform general housekeeping duties, e.g., removal of empty skids and stacking thereof in designated areas.
  6. At the end of the day, return equipment to the correct charging station and prepare for daily overnight charge.
  7. Follow all safety regulations required by OSHA and the company.
  8. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  1. Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
  2. Experience: 1-4 years operating light industrial equipment.
  3. Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc.: Certification on Electric Jack, sit-down forklift, and/or Order Picker and/or Reach. Experience with WMS is a plus.
  4. Working Conditions: Distribution center environment. Ability to stand, walk, stoop, bend, reach, pull, and push for extended periods. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  5. Other Skills/Abilities: Ability to satisfactorily complete equipment driving training. Effective listening and communication skills. Ability to follow instructions and work independently to complete assignments.
