Position Summary

AO Multispecialty Clinic is seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Rheumatology team with a primary focus on infusion therapy.

The Rheumatology Infusion Nurse is responsible for safely administering prescribed infusion therapies, monitoring patients throughout treatment, providing patient education, and coordinating closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacy, and other members of the clinical team.

The ideal candidate is clinically strong, detail-oriented, and comfortable independently managing infusion patients while providing a high level of compassionate, patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities
Infusion Therapy & Patient Care
  • Administer prescribed IV infusion therapies in accordance with physician orders, established protocols, and nursing standards
  • Perform patient assessments and obtain appropriate vital signs before, during, and after treatment
  • Verify treatment orders, laboratory results, and other clinical requirements prior to administration
  • Establish and maintain peripheral IV access as needed
  • Monitor patients throughout treatment for tolerance, side effects, and adverse reactions
  • Recognize changes in patient condition and respond appropriately, including timely escalation to the provider
  • Ensure safe and accurate administration of medications and therapies
Patient Education & Support
  • Educate patients regarding their prescribed therapy, treatment process, potential side effects, and post-treatment instructions
  • Answer patient questions and reinforce provider-directed treatment plans
  • Provide compassionate support to patients managing chronic rheumatologic and autoimmune conditions
  • Communicate patient concerns or changes in condition to the appropriate provider
Clinical Coordination
  • Collaborate closely with rheumatologists, advanced practice providers, pharmacy, laboratory, and other clinical staff
  • Coordinate treatment readiness and communicate potential barriers or delays
  • Support scheduling and follow-up needs associated with infusion therapy
  • Assist with coordination of ongoing treatment plans and continuity of care
Documentation, Safety & Compliance
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record
  • Document infusion administration, patient response, assessments, and interventions
  • Follow medication administration, infection prevention, and patient safety protocols
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies
  • Ensure treatment areas are appropriately prepared, stocked, and maintained
Qualifications
Preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
  • Previous infusion nursing experience
  • Rheumatology, oncology, specialty infusion, or other ambulatory clinical experience
  • Experience caring for patients receiving long-term infusion therapy
  • Additional infusion-related training or certification
