Duties may include but are not limited to:

• Performing patient consultations in hospital and outpatient settings via face-to-face, telephone, and video clinics.
• Improving communication among staff, overseeing clinical privileges, and monitoring coding practices for billing.
• Ensuring a quality improvement plan is in place, approving staff leave, and resolving patient complaints.
• Acting as a liaison for the medicine service with outside organizations and assisting with recruitment.
• Participating in medical center committees and programs to improve patient care services.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is impossible to recruit qualified citizens, in accordance with VA Policy.
• Education: A Doctor of Medicine degree or an equivalent degree in allopathic or osteopathic medicine is required.
• Licensure: A current, complete, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia is required.
• Residency: Completion of an accredited residency program in a core specialty.
• Board Certification: Board-certified or board-eligible in Rheumatology.
