Qualifications

  • Board-certified or board-eligible rheumatologist with strong clinical and teaching skills.
  • Open to recent rheumatology fellowship graduates.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Texas medical licensure.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical rheumatology care as part of an academic practice.
  • Contribute to teaching and research activities.
  • Develop and participate in administrative leadership within the division.
  • Opportunities for inpatient consultation and leadership as physicians gain experience.

Rheumatologist – Academic Faculty Opportunity | UTMB | Texas

The Division of Rheumatology at UTMB is expanding and seeking an enthusiastic full-time Rheumatologist to join its growing academic practice, with the primary clinical need based in Clear Lake, Texas.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative academic rheumatology division offering a balanced combination of clinical practice, teaching, research, and future leadership opportunities.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
  • Academic faculty opportunity for clinical practice, research, teaching, and administrative leadership with the primary need in Clear Lake
  • Join a strong multidisciplinary collaboration across subspecialties, departments, and strong support from fellows
  • Schedule consists of 9 half-day clinics per week
  • Growing Clear Lake consult service with opportunities to participate in inpatient consultation
  • Strong institutional resources, including dedicated nursing and specialty pharmacy support
  • Epic EMR with integrated Dragon AI and AI-assisted MyChart communication tools
  • Administrative and leadership opportunities available as physicians gain experience within the division
  • Recent fellowship graduates are encouraged to apply, with many recent faculty hires joining directly from fellowship
FINANCIAL PACKAGE
  • AAMC compensation benchmark for Assistant Professor through Associate Professor: approximately $239,663–$272,549
  • Additional compensation opportunities through wRVU production, research, education, and administrative responsibilities
  • Relocation assistance up to $20,000

  • 23 days of PTO available immediately upon start date
