Job summary

RTX in McKinney, Texas, is seeking an engineer to design and develop test software for RF production testing. You will work with hardware and software engineers, implementing software engineering best practices and leading design activity planning.

The role requires a STEM degree and 2+ years of experience with C#, CVI, C, or C++, plus RF test automation and NI Test Suite. U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance are required.

What You Will Do:
  • Work with hardware, software, and program engineers to design and develop test software solutions for production testing
  • Implement system software engineering best practices in planning, development, and execution of scope, schedule, and budget
  • Implement best practice standards regarding the planning, coordination, and execution of design activities with sound engineering process discipline and leadership
  • Effectively communicate technical information in formal design review settings
  • Provide hands-on support to product testing within an engineering test environment
  • Share knowledge and provide mentoring to other engineers on the team
  • Support the Section Manager in the execution of the RF Technologies department goals
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior experience
  • Experience successfully developing and deploying test software solutions in C#, CVI, C, and/or C++, with experience in using code review tools and Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience automating RF test equipment control (e.g. vector network analyzers, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, etc.)
  • Experience creating test plans and sequences for RF measurements using NI Test Suite
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Critical thinking, problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Experience in executing projects through the software development life cycle, while managing budgets and timelines for their projects
  • Experience with various programming languages, operating systems, system monitoring tools, and communication protocols
  • Supporting a production test environment with critical troubleshooting skills
  • Strong collaboration skills, with proven record of working in cross-functional teams
  • Strong communication skills to report status to program management and functional leadership
  • Hands-on experience with Atlassian suite of tools (Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence, Sourcetree, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience with lab instruments

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
