Job summary

Apple in Cupertino, California is seeking a Senior RF Hardware Engineer to define RF test requirements, build in-house test systems, and validate Rx/Tx chains to ensure regulatory compliance and optimal RF performance.

The role involves working with vendors and cross-functional teams, using RF lab equipment to validate performance and resolve issues, and supporting manufacturing and certification processes. 40 hours/week.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field is required.
• Experience in RF Receiver (Rx) and Transmitter (Tx) chains and characterization.
• Performing RF hardware validation using RF lab equipment: spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, power meter.
• Optimizing RF parametric performance such as ACLR, Transmit Power, PAE, IIP3 in various conditions.
• Experience measuring RF parameters including gain, stability, phase noise, timing, EVM, tx mismatch/loadpull, spurious emission, S-parameters and noise figure.
• Defining RF test conditions in automated and bench testing.
• Analyzing RF component characteristics in cellular technologies.
• Experience with IEEE, GSM, UMTS, LTE, or NR wireless technologies.

Responsibilities

• Define RF hardware test requirements and develop in-house test systems.
• Debug and resolve issues to ensure conformance to wireless standards.
• Perform RF hardware validation using lab equipment (spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, power meter).
• Characterize Rx/Tx chains and optimize RF performance.
• Build and execute test plans to comply with worldwide regulatory requirements and carrier requirements.
