Job summary

Apple Inc. in Cupertino, California is seeking an RF Hardware Platform Test engineer to define test requirements, design in-house test systems, and validate RF Rx/Tx chains. You will work with vendors and cross-functional teams to optimize RF performance and ensure compliance with worldwide regulations.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field and 3 years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.
  • Experience in RF Receiver (Rx) and Transmitter (Tx) chains and characterization.
  • Performing RF hardware validation using RF lab equipment: Spectrum analyzer, Network analyzer, and Power meter.
  • Optimizing RF parametric performance such as ACLR, Transmit Power, PAE, IIP3 in various operating conditions.
  • Experience measuring RF parameters including gain, stability, phase noise, timing, EVM, tx mismatch/loadpull, spurious emission, small signal S-parameter and noise figure.
  • Defining RF test conditions in automated test and bench test.
  • Analyzing radio frequency component characteristics and behavior in cellular technologies.
  • Experience with wireless technologies: IEEE, GSM, UMTS, LTE, or NR.

Responsibilities

  • Define RF hardware test requirements and build in-house test systems and execute validation test cases.
  • Debug and resolve issues, and manage processes to ensure Apple products conform to wireless standards.
  • Support manufacturing, manufacturing test, and Certification of Apple products.

Description

APPLE INC has the following available in Cupertino, California and various unanticipated locations throughout the USA. Define RF HW platform test requirements, design and implement in-house test systems, debug and resolve issues, and manage the process to ensure Apple products conform to all applicable wireless standards. Work with vendors, technology suppliers and cross-functional staff to optimize RF parametric performance. Support the manufacturing, manufacturing test and Certification of Apple Products. Performing RF hardware validation using RF lab equipment: Spectrum analyzer, Network Analyzer, Power Meters. Characterize Radio Frequency (RF) Receiver (Rx) and Transmitter (Tx) chains. Build and execute detailed test plans to ensure the product in compliance to worldwide regulatory requirements and carrier requirements. Resolve 3GPP, regulatory compliance issues by making recommendations to cross functional teams (including but not limited to RF/Antenna systems). Analyze RF component behavior in cellular technologies. Define test requirements, including designing, implementing in-house test systems and executing validation test cases. 40 hours/week. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $180,161- $225,300/yr and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.PAY & BENEFITS: Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field and 3 years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.
  • Education and/or experience must include:
  • Experience in RF Receiver (Rx) and Transmitter (Tx) chains and characterization.
  • Performing RF hardware validation using RF lab equipment: Spectrum analyzer, Network analyzer, and Power meter.
  • Optimizing RF parametric performance such as Adjacent channel leakage ratio (ACLR), Transmit Power, Power Added Efficiency (PAE), Input Third-Interception Point (IIP3) in various operating (linear and saturated power, digital pre-distortion (DPD)) conditions.
  • Experience measuring RF parameters including gain, stability, phase noise, timing, EVM, tx mismatch/loadpull, spurious emission, small signal S-parameter and noise figure.
  • Defining RF test conditions in automated test and bench test.
  • Analyzing radio frequency (RF) component characteristics and behavior in cellular technologies.
  • Experience with wireless technologies: Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Global System for Mobile communications, (GSM), Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS), Long-Term Evolution (LTE), or New Radio (NR).
