Job summary

MITRE, a nonprofit research and engineering organization, seeks an Associate Signal Processing Engineer to advance RF capabilities for U.S. Government sponsors.

You will model, simulate, and develop resilient communications and sensing systems while applying DSP, digital communications, and ML techniques. The role requires strong analytical skills, RF fundamentals, and experience with receiver design; familiarity with 5G/LTE/Wi‑Fi and various modeling tools is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related discipline.
• Proficient with MATLAB, Python, or C++ or other tools or languages.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US Top Secret security clearance.
• Technical background in signal processing, digital communications, receiver design, ML/AI, system performance analysis, or RF system modeling.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Experience delivering technical reports, presentations, and code.

Responsibilities

• Apply technical knowledge to solve problems across application areas.
• Design models and simulations or lab tests to evaluate solutions.
• Define evaluation methodologies for compatibility of comms, radar, and navigation systems in shared/freq bands.
• Assess interference impacts on system performance across current and emerging technologies.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers.
• Interpret standards documents to inform modeling and simulation decisions.
• Lead development and contribute to proposals for sponsors and IR&D.
• Drive research areas and distill information for sponsors.
