Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Systems in Boulder, CO is seeking an RF Microwave Design Engineer - Level 3 to advance RF system analyses, design, and development for satellite communications. The role emphasizes RF/microwave architectures, SATCOM ground terminals, and sophisticated simulations to support bids and programs.

Required are a STEM degree with 5+ years of RF/microwave experience or a related master/PhD with fewer years, plus an active Secret clearance and strong MATLAB skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 5+ years of relevant experience or Master’s with 3+ years or PhD with 1+ year
• Active Secret clearance required at time of application
• Understanding of Digital Communications and Signal Processing
• Experience modeling, simulation, and analysis of RF Systems including Space-to-Ground and Payload Systems
• Design and integration of SATCOM ground terminals, RF-over-Fiber, high-power transmitters, and phased-array antennas
• Experience performing Link Budget Analysis to design and optimize satellite communication links

Responsibilities

• Conduct RF/payload/communication system analysis, modeling and simulation
• Design and develop RF systems and corresponding analyses
• Design, develop, test RF/microwave systems architecture, components, circuits, or products
• Generate specifications for ambiguous customer requirements
• Support Basis of Estimates for proposals
• Execute trades and analyses for RF systems and circuits
• Perform link budgets and cascade analyses for RF systems
• Model and simulate RF systems for high-frequency/microwave applications
