Job summary

RTX in Tucson, AZ is seeking a Mechanical Engineer I to join the Effector RF Products Department. You will work onsite, developing RF systems with a multi‑discipline team, creating CAD models, prototype hardware, and performing integration and tests.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Mechanical or STEM and exposure to 3D CAD and drawings; security clearance is required for US government work, with DoD Secret level eligibility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or STEM by start date.
  • Experience or coursework in design, thermodynamics, vibrations, materials or mechatronics.
  • Familiarity with Creo Parametric and engineering drawings preferred.

The Effector RF Products Department is seeking a Mechanical Engineer I with the skills and passion to develop complex Radio Frequency (RF) systems, subsystems and components, including antennas, RF circuit cards, and RF test-equipment . A successful candidate is one who functions in a multi-disciplined team, properly applies engineering tools and processes, and is a self-motivated problem solver with a positive attitude and willingness to learn. This is an entry-level Mechanical Engineer position for an individual with educational experience and professional interest in the application of technical mechanical standards, principles, concepts, and techniques.

All Candidates will work within a larger team at Raytheon.Candidates perform meaningful engineering tasks for their assigned projects and will also have access to a variety of career development opportunities.These include access to technical mentors and the ability to “shadow” experienced professionals in order to learn about real industry positions.

What You Will Do:
  • Collaborating in a multi-discipline team setting to solve complex engineering problems
  • Creating 3D CAD models and engineering drawings for RF product designs
  • Developing prototype hardware designs and coordinating fabrication
  • Performing hands on integration and test support for prototype hardware
  • Holding design and drawing reviews with peers and subject matter experts
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major obtained by start date.
  • Experience and/or coursework, project, or internship in one or more of the following areas: manufacturing and design, thermodynamics and heat transfer, vibrations, materials, mechatronics, and/or statics.
Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Familiarity with 3D modeling CAD tools, preferably Creo Parametric.
  • Experience creating engineering drawings.
  • Experience fabricating prototype designs.
  • Class projects, professional internships, or academic research demonstrating the ability to apply technical coursework.

The salary range for this role is 57,200 USD - 108,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
