Job summary

RTX's Effector RF Design Department in Tucson is seeking an Electrical Engineer I to contribute to RF design, simulation, and testing across radar and datalink projects.

The successful candidate will design RF circuits, work in a lab performing component characterization, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams while meeting strict environmental and security requirements. Candidates must have DoD Secret clearance and be able to obtain interim clearance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering by start date.
  • Programming/simulation in MATLAB, SIMULINK, C/C++, or equivalent language.
  • Two or more of the following: Communication theory, DSP, Probability theory, Stochastic signal processing, RF/electromagnetic theory.

Responsibilities

  • Design and test activities spanning preliminary design to integration for radar and datalink applications.
  • Design and optimize RF circuits (receiver, exciter, filters, etc.).
  • Lab work for component characterization and module verification/integration.
  • Test and handle sensitive RF hardware.
  • Support circuit/assembly design (CCAs) with RF or mixed signals.

The Effector RF Design Department is seeking an Electrical Engineer I for an RF design position to work with a variety of programs as a contributor to detailed design, simulation, product development, and initial product testing.


The successful candidate will have educational experience and professional interest in designing RF and microwave hardware, including transmitters, receivers, and exciters. Critical to this role will be designing for challenging mechanical constraints and extreme environments. All Candidates will work within a larger team at Raytheon. Candidates perform meaningful engineering tasks for their assigned projects and will also have access to a variety of career development opportunities. These include access to technical mentors and the ability to "shadow" experienced professionals in order to learn about real industry positions.


What You Will Do:


  • Design and test activities that span preliminary design to integration. Products we develop support radar and datalink applications on a variety of tactical missile programs

  • Experience designing and optimizing RF circuits - either chains of components (receiver, exciter, etc.) or individual parts (filters, limiters, couplers, etc.)

  • Working in a lab to accomplish component characterization as well as module verification and integration

  • Testing and handling sensitive RF Hardware.

  • Supporting design of circuit and assemblies (CCAs) with RF or mixed signals.

  • Working with interdisciplinary teams - power, digital, mechanical, etc.

  • Schematic capture and detailed design.


Qualifications You Must Have:


  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major obtained by start date.

  • Experience and/or coursework in programming and/or simulation experience in MATLAB, SIMULINK, C/C++, or equivalent language.

  • Experience and/or coursework with two or more of the following:

    • Communication theory

    • Digital signal processing

    • Probability theory

    • Stochastic signal processing

    • RF and electromagnetic theory




Qualifications We Prefer:


  • Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with a focus in digital communications, communications systems design, data link hardware development, waveform algorithm development, and or digital signal processing.

  • ABET is the preferred, although not required accreditation standard.

  • Solid background and practical understanding of RF electronics design considerations (to include experience or relevant course work).

  • Experience with any of the following tools: Mentor Xpedition xDX Designer, System Vision, MATLAB, MathCad, Computer Simulation Technologies (CST), Microwave Design Studio, High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) and Advanced Design System (ADS).

The salary range for this role is 57,200 USD - 108,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
