Job summary

Mercury Systems is seeking a Principal RF Engineer to provide hands-on technical leadership for a team developing advanced RF systems for defense applications.

You will collaborate across functions to design RF circuits, lead testing, and help transition designs to production while ensuring alignment with program goals and security requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Typically 7 years in High Reliability, Aerospace, or Defense Electronics product development.
  • Experience providing technical leadership to an integrated product development team.
  • Extensive experience in RF/Microwave, analog, digital, and mixed-signal testing and troubleshooting.
  • Experience using RF simulation software (Microwave Office, AWR, ADS, HFSS).
  • Experience transferring new designs to production.
  • Familiarity with RF and antenna theory.
  • Travel up to 10%.
  • Active Security Clearance required on day 1.

The Engineering team is looking for a Principal RF Engineer who will provide hands‑on technical leadership to a team developing advanced RF Systems for exciting defense applications.

You will have the opportunity to demonstrate technical acumen with technical leadership and cross‑functional collaboration skills.

Job Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the detailed design of RF circuits, modules, and subsystems.
  • Provide technical inputs to program plans and proposals

  • Collaborate and effectively communicate while acting as the technical lead for development programs and production products
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Typically requires 7 years of experience in High Reliability, Aerospace, or Defense Electronics product development and manufacturing.
  • Experience providing technical leadership to an integrated product development team.
  • Extensive experience in testing / troubleshooting RF/Microwave, analog, digital, and mixed signal circuits.
  • Expertise using RF simulation software (Microwave Office, AWR, ADS, HFSS).
  • Experience transferring new designs to production.
  • Familiarity with RF and antenna theory.
  • Travel up to 10%.
  • Active Security Clearance required on day 1.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with design and test of phased arrays.
  • Experience with antenna test ranges.
  • Experience using data analysis tools such as MATLAB.
  • Experience in failure analysis / Root-Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations.

This position requires you to have an active government security clearance. Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens.

, Fulltime Equivalent Job Grade Salary Range for this position

  • $87,100.00 - $182,900.00 annual salary for in-office or hybrid employees in FL, GA, IN, AZ, AL, MD or TX, and all remote employees
  • $97,600.00 - $204,800.00 annual salary for in-office or hybrid employees in VA, CA, NH or MA
  • $102,800.00 - $215,800.00 annual salary for in-office or hybrid employees in NJ,

Mercury considers a variety of factors to determine individual base salary offers to candidates, including:

  • the role and related responsibilities;
  • prior work experience;
  • education, training, skills and certifications;
  • internal equity with others employed by Mercury in similar roles;
  • geographic location; and
  • alignment with market data.
