A leading company in the telecommunications sector is seeking a talented RF Engineer to support the buildout of its 5G wireless network. The role involves optimizing network performance through innovative RF solutions and requires a strong background in LTE RF design. Candidates should possess a BSEE or BSCS degree and significant experience in network engineering, particularly with cellular systems. If you're looking to make an impact in a rapidly evolving industry, this opportunity is for you.
EchoStar is reimagining the future of connectivity. Our business reach spans satellite television service, live-streaming and on-demand programming, smart home installation services, mobile plans and products.
Today, our brands include Boost Mobile, DISH TV, Gen Mobile, Hughes and Sling TV.
Surpassing network limitations of the past, our Wireless Development team is building and enhancing the country’s first cloud-native, standalone 5G wireless network. This is the foundation of a connected world flexible enough to satisfy all the social, economic and transformative needs of today and the future.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform network-wide optimization, including propagation modeling, link budget modifications, and configuration of site, equipment, and power parameters to improve key performance indicators (KPIs).
Address RF-related problems, including customer-reported issues, through short-, medium-, and long-term solutions, while collaborating with RAN, eNB, and UE teams.
Coordinate and execute cell site drive tests, optimization activities, and site issue troubleshooting to ensure optimal site performance.
Lead RF design activities supporting the buildout of the first standalone 5G broadband network in the U.S., including site candidate evaluation and selection.
Independently manage complex RF engineering projects and processes, while coaching and reviewing the work of junior engineers.
Develop innovative RF solutions, update performance parameters, and contribute to operational plans and policies that drive continuous network improvements.
Education and Experience:
Skills and Qualifications:
Deep expertise in 4G, 5G, and NR technologies, with both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in cellular/mobile systems.
Proven mastery in macro and small cell RF design—from nominal to final—including development, operations, KPI optimization, and maintenance of 3GPP-compliant RF link budgets.
Advanced proficiency in configuring, calibrating, and utilizing LTE design and optimization tools, along with processing related measurement data.
Extensive experience with at least two major industry-standard propagation and planning tools (e.g., Planet, Atoll), including propagation model calibration.
Skilled in post-processing drive test data, generating RF maps, conducting frequency planning and interference matrix analysis, and maintaining site databases using tools like Windcatcher, Actix, or Accuver.
In-depth understanding of equipment co-location standards for multi-operator environments, with practical experience in intermodulation and external interference analysis.
We offer versatile health perks, including flexible spending accounts, HSA, a 401(k) Plan with company match, ESPP, career opportunities, and a flexible time away plan; all benefits can be viewed here: DISH Benefits .
The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location.
