Job summary

KBR, Inc. is seeking an experienced RF Engineer for the National Security Solutions team in Virginia. The role focuses on RF subsystems, modeling, testing, and cross‑functional collaboration to support national security programs.

Responsibilities include RF design, analysis, verification, and trade studies, with emphasis on performance optimization and system integration. On‑site work with minimal travel is required.

Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI with a Polygraph.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, Physics, or related technical discipline.
  • 15+ years of RF systems engineering experience.
  • Experience with RF communications, radar, EW, SIGINT, or related technologies.
  • Proficiency with RF analysis tools (MATLAB, ADS, CST, HFSS).
  • Knowledge of RF propagation, antenna theory, signal analysis, and performance characterization.

Responsibilities

  • Design, analyze, and evaluate RF subsystems, components, and architectures to meet mission requirements.
  • Perform RF modeling, simulation, link budget analysis, and performance assessments to support design decisions.
  • Develop and review technical requirements, interface documentation, and engineering artifacts.
  • Support system integration, verification, validation, and test activities in lab and field environments.
  • Conduct technical trade studies and recommend solutions to improve system performance, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Analyze test data, identify performance issues, and develop corrective actions and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with government, contractor, and cross-functional teams across the lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Standard Qualifications
  • Required: Active TS/SCI with a Polygraph
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
  • 15+ years of experience supporting RF systems engineering, development, testing, or analysis.
  • Experience working with RF communications, radar, electronic warfare, SIGINT, or related technologies.
  • Proficiency with RF analysis tools such as MATLAB, ADS, CST, HFSS, or equivalent engineering tools.
  • Knowledge of RF propagation, antenna theory, signal analysis, and performance characterization.
  • Experience supporting system integration and formal test activities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Desired: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, or national security programs.
  • Familiarity with digital signal processing, wireless communications, or satellite communications systems.
  • Experience conducting requirements analysis and systems engineering activities.
  • Knowledge of Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies and tools.
  • Experience supporting acquisition, sustainment, or integration of large‑scale RF systems.
Basic Compensation

$248,100 to $372,200 annually This range is for the Virginia area only The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.

Additional Compensation

KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
