Job summary

Peraton Labs is seeking an RF Engineer to assist testing, characterization, and analysis of RF systems used in communications, UAS control, and threat device assessment. You will work under senior engineers, performing hands-on measurements and documenting lab activities.

The role requires a BS in Electrical/RF Engineering, lab experience with RF equipment, and a TS/SCI clearance. You will help with schematics, test setups, and preparing technical summaries in a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 2 years of experience with BS/BA; 0 years with MS/MA; 6 years with no degree.
  • Basic RF concepts such as gain, impedance, bandwidth, and signal behavior.
  • Hands-on lab experience with RF test equipment.
  • Ability to read and develop simple schematics and block diagrams.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn advanced RF techniques and support senior staff.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in testing and troubleshooting RF power amplifiers, receiver circuits, and RF components.
  • Use RF lab equipment to collect measurements and verify system performance.
  • Support characterization of cellular and wireless systems related to jamming and interference testing.
  • Develop basic schematics and block diagrams during reverse engineering activities.
  • Perform introductory RF signal analysis on UAS control systems and prepare summaries or reports.
  • Support evaluation of high power RF transmitters and jamming systems, including basic amplifier measurements.
  • Assist with receiver and antenna test activities and document results.
  • Maintain MASINT chamber setups and contribute to EMI test activities under Mil-Std-461F supervision.
  • Prepare clear documentation, diagrams, and organized test data for engineering review.

Responsibilities

Peraton Labs is searching for a RF Engineer to support testing, characterization, and basic analysis of radio-frequency systems used in communications, UAS control, and threat device assessment. The candidate will work under the guidance of senior engineers and technicians and assist with hands on RF measurements, documentation, and lab activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in testing and troubleshooting RF power amplifiers, receiver circuits, and other RF components
  • Use RF lab equipment such as Vector Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, Arbitrary Signal Generators, and Software-Defined Radios to collect measurements and verify system performance
  • Support characterization of cellular and wireless communication systems related to jamming and interference testing
  • Help develop basic schematics and block diagrams during reverse engineering activities of RF based devices
  • Perform introductory RF signal analysis on UAS control systems and help prepare technical summaries or reports
  • Support senior staff in evaluating high power RF transmitter and jamming systems, including basic amplifier stage measurements
  • Assist with receiver and antenna test activities, including documenting performance results and configuration changes
  • Participate in maintaining MASINT chamber setups and help execute EMI test activities in accordance with Mil-Std-461F under supervision
  • Prepare clear documentation, diagrams, and organized test data for engineering review
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience)
  • 2 years of experience with BS/BA; 0 years with MS/MA; 6 years with no degree
  • Basic understanding of RF concepts such as gain, impedance, bandwidth, and signal behavior
  • Hands on lab experience with common RF test equipment, either through coursework, internships, or personal projects
  • Ability to read and learn to develop simple schematics and block diagrams
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Willingness to learn advanced RF techniques and support more experienced team members
  • Active TS/SCI

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to UAS systems, SDRs, RF signal analysis, or communications systems (academic or project-based experience accepted)
  • Familiarity with EMI/EMC concepts or military standards
  • Interest in reverse engineering or RF device teardown work

Target Salary Range

$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
