Job summary

RACOM in Des Moines, IA is hiring an RF Technician to install, configure, and troubleshoot RF communication systems used by public safety, utilities, and transportation. You’ll work from a local service center with occasional travel to field sites.

The ideal candidate has hands-on electronics experience or an associate's degree, strong diagnostics, and the ability to read schematics. You will diagnose interference, perform firmware updates, maintain records, and ensure FCC and safety compliance

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, or related field.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
• Valid driver's license with clean record.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Willingness to travel occasionally.
• Mechanical aptitude for installations.
• Ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and repair RF equipment and systems.
• Diagnose signal, interference, and hardware issues.
• Perform testing, firmware updates, and system calibration.
• Support emergency vehicle upfits and 12VDC installs.
• Maintain documentation and service records.
• Participate in on-call rotation after training.
• Conduct site surveys and RF coverage tests.
• Ensure FCC and safety compliance.
• Assist with system upgrades and new deployments.
• Travel as needed for field work and training.
• Provide prompt, professional customer support.
• Collaborate with team members and project staff.
